Intramural Ladder League Basic Rules:
Players must be either owner, renter or a guest to enter the intramural Ladder League. Remember to wear your OV WRISTBAND as a requirement to use the facilities.
Players in each group compete for positions [1st thru 4th or 5th in 5 players group].
Regular scoring for all games up to 11 wins by one.
Teams will referee their own games and call if the ball was in or out. Players will call the lines on their side of the court, all questionable calls must be resolved in favor of the opponent. No player should question an opponent’s call. A player should ask the opponent’s opinion if the opponent was in a better position to see the call. An opponent’s opinion, if requested, should be accepted.
The group's last two place finishers move below the 2nd place finisher of the group below. Which also means the group's 1st and 2nd place finishers, move above the 3rd, 4th (or 4th and 5th) place finishers of the group above.
In case of a tie, the ranked lower player will move ahead of the higher ranked player.
Players that do not play (DNP) a week are moved down 2 positions and hold that position over other player moves, unless someone above them Drops-out.
Players that miss 3 weeks in a row will be placed as Dropped out.
In order to be eligible to win, players must compete in at least 4 of the 6 weeks of play.
Players that are a "no show" on game day, without notifying the ladder captain at least 24 hours prior to game day may be dropped from the ladder. The ladder captain will try to modify groups so everyone can play , if not possible to regroup, a substitute may be considered and forfeit the no show player with a 5 positions penalty.
In case the courts are considered unplayable due to bad weather (cold, rain, wind or lightning) the session will be called as suspended. To complete the matches, every group captain must coordinate their group to find a schedule that fits the group, so the match's results could be completed and return the score sheets by Tuesday not later than 7 pm EST. If the forecasted conditions persists for the whole weekend, the complete session could be rescheduled to next week or cancelled.
In case a player has an injury or does not feel well during play, the game must be put on hold for at least 5 minutes, giving enough time to recover (follow the concussion protocol in case of fall). If it is not possible to resume the game the group has three options,
Reschedule to finish games later or other other day (just like suspended by rain case) or
Forfeit the player giving 10 points to the winning team and 0 to the incomplete team or
If it's a group of 4 players, the group can find a substitute and replay all the games, so that each player has an equal opportunity to play with or against the substitute. If it's a group of 5 players forfeit the player with 0 and reschedule the games as a new group of 4 (ask for a blank score sheet) all games must be played as the score sheet states. The substitute player's score will count for teams, but will not count for the player.
